Board of Directors

Meeting House Nursery School is governed by a very active and creative board of directors. Consisting of MHNS parents, other interested community members, and one teacher from the staff, the board oversees the corporate and legal existence of the school, sets governing policies, and reviews the performance of the executive director.

Each board member serves on at least one committee during his/her two-year term. These committees are also open to any interested parents:

  • Connections: Keeps families connected by organizing Parent Programs throughout the year, overseeing Room Parents, and offering enjoyable events such as the Welcome Wagon, which is held on the first day of school
  • Finance: Prepares and presents the annual budget to the board of directors while handling any financial concerns that arise
  • Financial Assistance: Reviews scholarship applications and makes decisions regarding scholarship awards
  • Fundraising: Coordinates a variety of fundraising events with the goal of generating proceeds for student scholarships, playground renovation and other initiatives
  • House and Grounds: Organizes fall and spring spruce-up days while determining a strategic plan for playground renovations
  • Marketing: Ensures visibility of MHNS in the community with the goal of encouraging new families to enroll
  • Personnel: Conducts the executive director’s annual performance review while helping out as needed with any staff issues that arise
  • Special Events: Organizes a variety of fun special events for children and families, including Special Person Night, Teacher Appreciation Week, and the end-of-the-year picnic

In general, the eleven-member board of directors meets monthly on Wednesday evenings. Meetings are held at school and are open to any interested parties. Board meeting minutes are posted at the school and are available for review.
